Item Details
Description
Automobile, 1950 Nash Statesman Super Airflyte. The first generation of the Nash Statesman was introduced for the 1950 model year. It was offered as a 2-door sedan or a 2-door coupe, all of which were fitted w/a 3.0L inline six-cyl engine. Positioned between top line Nash Ambassador and above the Nash Rambler. Nash developed its post-World War II automobiles using an advanced unit body construction w/fast back aerodynamic styling under the Airflyte name, reflecting a popular styling trend in the 1950's. A distinguishing feature of all Nashes are the "skirted" fenders. Two-door models, like this one, included Nash's exclusive "Airliner Reclining" front passenger seat that could be converted to form a bed. Statesman engine designs were based on the L-head Nash Light Six engine that was designed in the 1920's and continued into the 1940's . It is characterized by the lack of intake and exhaust manifolds. The Statesman models were lighter resulting in fuel efficiency as reported by owners and testers. This one is in perfect running condition w/a new master cylinder. This Statesman looks like it could've been on a used car lot in 1954 or '55 and someone bought and put it in controlled storage for the next 70+ years! This is an excellent survivor. Odometer shows just 67,392 miles. VIN #K 430771.
