Description
Canadian. 1880. Brothers Joseph and Edmund Bradwin operated potteries in both Mount Forest and Wingham, Ontario, in the last quarter of the nineteenth century. This earthenware tomato jar has the name Bradwin inscribed on the shoulder and has been attributed to the Wingham Pottery. This is the jar pictured in Moe Johnson's "The Potter's Reach", pg.181 Fig. 15-8. It comes with a billhead from Joseph Bradwin's Wingham Pottery. Extremely rare jar, as only a handful of marked pieces are known from the Bradwins' small Ontario earthenware potteries.
