Description
Canadian. 1860-1883. This lot includes three pieces of pottery. A pair of 1/2 gal earthenware jugs from Jacob Henry Ahrens, Paris, Ontario. While neither is marked, these glazes are confidently attributed to Ahrens. The molasses jug in red glaze has a great form. The rosy coloured jug is one of Ahrens' most attractive glazes. The pitcher is a form found in Ontario, but this one is light in weight and may be European.
Size
Jug: 8.5" x 4.5" (base diameter). Molasses Jug: 7.5" x 5" (base diameter). Pitcher: 7.5" x 3.5" (base diameter).
Condition
The two Ahrens jugs are near mint. The pitcher has some minor chipping to the rim and spout.
Medium
