Ballard 2 Gal Bird Jug

Description

Canadian. 1860-1870. While unmarked, the bird decoration on this 2 gal jug is clearly Orrin Ballard's work. Crock made either at the Cornwall Pottery in Ontario or the St. Johns Pottery in Quebec, as Ballard was the proprietor of both in the 1860s. Lovely decoration that is uncommon due to the addition of a stump.
