German. Wood. A panelled oak storage chest in early paint, the front panels being decorated with floral motifs. Good condition, pegged and dovetailed construction with original hardware and lock. Bun feet replaced. This chest was found in Ontario's Waterloo County as an immigrant chest originally brought from Germany. Illustrated in "The Heritage of Upper Canadian Furniture" by Howard Pain, plate 1347, page 517. Early 19th century. 22" x 43" x 21". From the late Howard Pain Collection. German.
