Description
This saber is a 1796 pattern British Light Cavalry saber with metal scabbard. The spine of the blade is marked "T. Craven" and the right side of the blade has a crown cartouche stamp. It features a 33" curved blade and metal D shaped handguard with leather grip. The handguard is fitted with "ears" on each side of the blade that fit over the outside of the scabbard. The scabbard is fitted with 2 rings to attach for carry.
Condition
Fair - Sabre and scabbard shows oxidation and pitting. Many areas have a darkened patina. The leather grip is cracked and some parts have broken off. The metal is still solid. Will make a great display piece.
