
This rifle was manufactured in 1888 by Springfield Armory and chambered in .45-70 Government. It features a blade style front sight and an adjustable rear sight on a 22" barrel. The barrel is marked with "VP" with an Eagle Head "P" and the top of the breech door is marked "US Model 1884". The right side of the receiver below the hammer has the American eagle and shield engraving with "US Springfield 1873". The left side is fitted with a saddle ring and the wooden stock is fitted with a steel butt plate with compartment door for a cleaning rod (empty). LOP: 13 1/2". CALIBER/GA: 45-70 Government. Condition
Good - Bore is frosted and rifling is visible and worn. Stock is in good shape with few dings and scratches. Hammer and barrel have visible pitting light oxidation on a couple metal parts. Mechanics are good.
