Additional Information: A better friend, captured the profound bond between a person and their animal companion. This series delves into the unconditional loyalty and companionship that dogs offer. Through the expressive and composed setting, the piece celebrates the unique connection between human beings and dogs. I emphasize the unwavering support and affection that dogs show their owners, as dogs are believed to never bite the hands that feed them. Through the color choice throughout the series, I convey the idea that bonding with a dog transcends ordinary companionship; it is an offering of unique and enriching friendship that encompasses unparalleled comfort, support, and a steadfast ally. Artist Statement The ideas, issues and events arising from man's quest to contain and contend with these forces form the subject of my paintings. Given this background, my paintings are subtle but much defined with interlocking and wedges of colour combined like a mosaic to produce a solid, architectural structure, enhanced by the textured surface of the paint with women accorded with prominent attention, focus and more emphasis in my composition. Women live in a male-dominated society based on local cultural traditions with few rights and are at the receiving end of men's activities and yet strive to eke out and sustain living. I celebrate them by weaving my composition around them during their hours of need, joy, pain, and other human activities.
