
A silver seal box writing desk companion Asprey & Co Ltd, London 1920 Double lidded rectangular form with applied borders, engraved with twin crests with motto below 'HORA.E.SEMPRE', the hinged lids opening to reveal a gilt interior, fitted with a covered match striker and holder, compartments either side each containing a silver seal, matrix engraved with twin crests on one, other monogrammed, compartment to the front, the interior of the lids either side fitted with pierced holders, with sprung hinges, length 13cm, weight total 18oz. Footnotes: These are the two crest associated with the arms of the FERMOR-HESKETH family, baronets. With the monogram appearing to be 'TFH' and the assay date of 1920 suggests that the item refers to either, firstly: Sir Thomas George FERMOR-HESKETH (1849-1924) 7th Baronet born Thomas George HESKETH, a soldier achieving the rank of Colonel. He married in 1880 Florence Emily SHARON (1858-1924) the heiress and daughter of William SHARON Senator of Nevada, USA. He was the second son of Sir Thomas HESKETH (1825-1872) 5th Baronet by his wife Lady Louisa Maria Isabella FERMOR daughter of Thomas FERMOR (1770-1830) 4th Earl Pomfret. Or his son: Thomas FERMOR-HESKETH (1881-1944) who succeeded as 8th Baronet, later in 1935 being created 1st Baron Hesketh. He married in 1909 Florence Louise BECKINRIDGE (1881-1956) daughter of John Witherspoon BECKINRIDGE of San Francisco and Vice President of the USA. Possibly from the Easton Neston house. Built 1695 and 1702 for Sir William Fermor, 1st Baron Leominster. Thomas George Fermor-Hesketh, who succeeded as 7th Bt. in 1876 and owned the house it until his death in 1924. The estate then passed to his son, Thomas Fermor-Hesketh, 8th Bt. and 1st Baron Hesketh (1881 - 1944).
