Title: Antique Miniature in Pinchbeck Surround
Description: Early Victorian Miniature Portrait in Pinchbeck Frame Circa 1835–1850
A finely painted early Victorian miniature portrait of a young woman, rendered with exceptional delicacy and lifelike presence.
Her poised expression and magnetic eyes are captured in rich tones, suggesting the hand of a skilled miniaturist.
The sitter’s centre-parted hairstyle and lace-trimmed dress are typical of the 1830s–1850s period.
The portrait is set behind a chamfered-edge oval glass in a finely worked openwork Pinchbeck frame.
The reverse bears a small suspension ring at the top, and remnants of solder to either side indicate it was once fitted with a pin and worn as a brooch.
Condition: The painting remains in very good condition.
The original glass shows a few light surface scratches consistent with age.
The frame has wear and tarnish in places, particularly around the solder points, but retains its original form.
The miniature has not been removed from the frame.
Dimensions: Height: 8 cm Width: 6.5 cm
A refined and atmospheric piece of early 19th-century portraiture, dating to circa 1835–1850, and suitable for both collectors and display.
