Executed in soft tones with a refined eye for expression, the works portray two children with delicacy and warmth.
The artist’s handling of form and focus on character — particularly in the eyes — is typical of her accomplished pastel style.
Emily Eyres exhibited at the Royal Academy in London between 1899 and 1904, showing works such as A Bachelor and Shadows.
Based in Walton-on-Thames, she was active in Edwardian artistic circles alongside her husband, landscape painter John W. Eyres.
