A decorative near pair of finely hand-painted Japanese Kutani porcelain bottle vases, dating to the late Meiji period, circa 1890–1910.
Each vase stands approximately 16 cm high and is decorated in the traditional Kutani palette, featuring rich iron red, black, and soft enamels with delicate gilt highlights.
Both vases are adorned with floral and bird motifs framed within shaped reserves, with additional foliate and scroll decoration extending up the necks.
Marks: One vase bears a hand-painted red Kutani character mark to the base.
The other has an underglaze blue mark, possibly from a different Kutani kiln or decorator active in the same period.
Condition: The vase with the blue mark has an old, stable glued repair around the shoulder, visible on close inspection.
The vase with the red mark has a small nibble to the rim.
Both show some fine glaze crazing consistent with age.
A characterful and elegant pair, offering authentic examples of Meiji-period Kutani ware, well suited for collectors or display.
