
A GROUP OF MINIATURE QINGBAI GLAZED VESSELS Song Dynasty Comprising: a lobed box and cover, with a raised lotus decoration to the cover, covered in a soft grey-green glaze, impressed mark to the base xu jia he zi ji (box made by the Xu family); a cup and stand each with a moulded radiating flower petal design, covered in a vivid blue-green glaze; and a melon form lobed box and cover, decorated in a creamy glaze. The translucent colour evokes smooth carved jade or clear water over white stone, reflecting Song dynasty values of harmony with nature. The lobed shape of the boxes in the present lot further mimic the natural forms of gourds and flowers, embodying their organic symmetry.
