
A Bohemian engraved goblet and a cover, circa 1720-30 The generous round funnel bowl cut with facets to the lower part, finely decorated with a vase of flowers on a bracket issuing elaborate scrollwork, beneath a canopy upon which sit two monkeys blowing trumpets, flanked by ornamental figures holding the drapery and supporting vases of flowers on their heads, set on a faceted stem with a shoulder knop set between double-collars, above an inverted baluster, the conical foot with a foliate garland and cut with an |0|0| rosette underneath, the associated domed cover with elaborate scrollwork enclosing the regnal number 'VI' four times, the wrythen finial containing ruby and aventurine twists, 29.1cm high (2) Footnotes: The regnal number on the cover probably relates to Charles VI, Holy Roman Emperor and ruler of the Austrian Habsburg monarchy from 1711 until his death in 1740.
