An attractive Venetian girasol goblet by Salviati & C, circa 1890 In milky opalescent glass, the generous rounded funnel bowl set on a collar, the stem with a hollow knop moulded with two lion masks, swags and florets between gadrooned borders, set between short plain sections, over a folded conical foot, 17.2cm high Footnotes: Opalescent glass such as this is known as girasol, Italian for sunflower, because of its changing intensity upon exposure to light. A similar goblet is in the Victoria & Albert Museum (inv. no.887-1868).
