
A rare pink lustre 'Postillion' Toby Jug, circa 1820 Seated on a chair with an elaborately scrolled back, holding a foaming jug and a foaming mug, wearing a yellow bicorn hat, orange jacket, puce waistcoat and yellow breeches, the chair and base in pink lustre, the base inscribed 'TOBY' in black, 20cm high Footnotes: Traditionally associated with Sunderland, pink lustre was widely used in other pottery-making centres.
