
A group of Bow porcelain, circa 1750-60 The decoration of Japanese-inspired patterns and palettes, comprising a circular plate, a large bell-shaped mug and a coffee cup, all painted and gilt in Kakiemon style with the 'Two Quail' pattern, the plate 23.3cm diam, the mug 16.3cm high, the coffee cup 6cm high, the cup with painter's mark E, together with a small pudding bowl with a lobed rim, and decorated with lotus flowers and a large butterfly to the centre, the border with flowerheads and scrolling tendrils below a red line, 15cm diam, and a shallow circular dish with a fluted rim, painted in the Imari style, with a Chinese figure to the centre, and an panelled border featuring stylised lotus-designs, precious objects and gilt landscapes, 18cm diam (5) Footnotes: Provenance Tony Stevenson Collection (coffee cup) Richards Collection (fluted dish) Anton Gabszewicz Collection A similar example of the pudding bowl, which may have been intended as a stand for a finger bowl is illustrated by Anton Gabszewicz, Made at New Canton (2000), p.54, fig.39.
