
A Bow teabowl and saucer and two coffee cups, circa 1754-56 The larger coffee cup with an ear-shaped handle, decorated with the same striking pattern as the teabowl and saucer, underglaze blue tendrils with overglaze black and puce enamel and gilt fruiting vines, saucer 12.2cm diam, cup 6.2cm high, the second coffee cup with a loop handle painted with white enamel flowers in bianco-sopra-bianco technique, interspersed with colourful insects, the rim gilt, 5.6cm high (4) Footnotes: Provenance Barford Collection (teabowl and saucer) With Juno Antiques (larger coffee cup) Anton Gabszewicz Collection The vine pattern is also found on early Worcester. The bianco-sopra-bianco flowers on the second-mentioned coffee cup are a highly unusual feature, thickly applied almost in imitation of applied sprigs.
