Two Liverpool (Richard Chaffers) saucers, circa 1760-62 Decorated in vibrant famille rose enamels, one with a 'broken scroll' unfurled amongst Chinese flowers sprouting from holed rocks, a goose with its feathers picked out in white enamel by a flower basket and a strange creature above, with a brown and gilt scroll border, the second saucer with large peonies issuing from abstract rockwork, below a flower panel and diaper border, 12.2cm diam (2) Footnotes: Provenance With Simon Spero (first-mentioned 'broken scroll' saucer) Frank Wheeldon Collection, Bonhams, 23 January 2008, lot 136 (part) (second-mentioned saucer) Lyn and Maurice Hillis Collection The 'broken scroll' saucer is extremely rare.
