Two Lowestoft tea canisters and covers, circa 1770-80 Of shouldered, rectangular form, painted in blue, one with a version of the 'Immortelle' pattern, 12.6cm high, crossed swords mark, the second canister painted with the 'Mansfield' pattern, 12.2cm high, crescent mark (4) Footnotes: Provenance Sotheby's, 10 February 1981, lot 116 (first-mentioned example, Immortelle pattern) Lyn and Maurice Hillis Collection This version of the 'Immortelle' pattern differs slightly from one more usually found on ribbed teawares at Lowestoft.
