A Chelsea bough pot, circa 1765 Of rococo moulded form, the high scrolled back pierced for suspension, the fixed cover with large central hole and sixteen smaller holes, painted with three panels of fancy birds standing amongst foliage on a puce ground edged in gold, 22cm wide, 15cm high, gold anchor mark Footnotes: Provenance Edward Robson Collection, Hull This is a rare form at Chelsea. Worcester produced a similar form in the late 1750s and adapted to richer decoration in the 1760s with coloured grounds and gilding, see for example lot 200 in this sale.
