
An interesting group of Worcester porcelain, circa 1765-75 Comprising pieces decorated in the London workshop of James Giles, including a 'Blind Earl' dessert plate painted with scattered flowers, the rim gilt, 19.2cm wide, a stand for a chocolate cup, of deep, fluted form, painted with colourful flowers below a border of puce trellis bound by gilt bands alternating with panels of turquoise, 14.8cm wide, and a teacup with three lobed panels reserving purple flower sprays on a jade ground with gilt diaper, 5cm high, crossed swords and numeral 9 mark, together with two factory-decorated pieces, a dessert plate painted in the 'Earl Manvers' pattern, 21.5cm wide, and a reeded teacup with flowers within turquoise and gold borders, 4.8cm high (5) Footnotes: A pair of 'Blind Earl' dessert plates with similar flower painting attributed to Giles was sold by Bonhams on 23 April 2008, lot 193.
