
A fine Royal Crown Derby vase by George Darlington, dated 1919 Of ovoid shape with high gilt handles, raised on a square foot with scrolled feet heightened in gold, finely painted with a continuous border of panels of pink roses and buds, one panel signed 'Darlington', each within a gilt surround of raised and tooled fruiting vine, reserved on a rich dark blue ground with formal gilded borders, 21.5cm high, printed red mark, 9389/1640 in red and incised shape number 1640 Footnotes: Darlington is best known for the elaborate raised and tooled gilding on the Judge Gary service and is undoubtedly responsible for the fine gilt fruiting vine on this vase.
