
A late 19th century French striking carriage clock and a mid 19th century one piece cased carriage clock timepiece with alarm The first clock with a decorated carrying handle over a rectangular observation window, the moulded and decorated top above fluted sides with glazed observation panels, all over a rectangular base with matching decoration. The 2.5-inch white enamel dial with black Roman numerals and blued-steel hands to a twin-train striking movement with Swiss-style platform escapement, striking the hours and half-hours on a blued-steel gong mounted to the backplate. The second clock with a simple brass carrying handle over a large glazed observation window, the one-piece case terminating in a moulded base. The 2.25-inch white enamel dial with Roman numerals and a Roman-Arabic alarm dial to the lower section. The single-train movement with a cylinder escapement and an alarm train to the left-hand side, sounding on a polished bell mounted to the backplate. 17.5cms (7ins) high.
