
Two early 20th century French carriage clocks with painted dials The first clock surmounted by a brass carrying handle over an oval observation window to the moulded top, with plain sides to a moulded base. The 2.25-inch rectangular dial with Roman numerals set within a painted provincial scene depicting a stag and deer, the sides with observation windows revealing the twin-train movement within, striking the hours and half-hours on a blued-steel gong mounted to the backplate, fitted with a later Swiss lever platform escapement. The second clock with a decorated carrying handle over a similar oval observation window to moulded top and bottom and resting on cast decorated feet, the sides with observation windows and a 2.5-inch white enamel dial with Arabic numerals framed by floral decoration. The single-train movement fitted with a Swiss-style platform escapement. Both currently ticking. 16cms (6.25ins) high.
