
A late 19th century French ormolu striking cartel clock Edward Gleizes, 248 Rue Rivoli The case surmounted by cast ormolu flowers and foliage above flowing scrolls in Rococo form, the sides with sound frets backed in modern red silk, terminating in a further decorated front with matching silk-backed frets and additional floral ormolu mounts. The 5.5-inch white enamel dial with blue Roman numerals and black Arabic five-minute markers, signed in the centre Edward Gleizes, 248 Rue Rivoli, with decorated gilt brass hands. The twin-train movement, accessed from the rear, with countwheel strike, striking the hours and half hours on a polished bell mounted to the back plate, currently ticking and striking. 53cms (21ins) high.
