
A late 19th century gothic revival mahogany quarter chiming bracket clock and bracket E. White, 20 Cockspur Street, London The case surmounted by applied Gothic detailing, architectural mouldings above three-carved finials to the top, with Gothic-shaped columns and radiating applied ogee-shaped reliefs. The sides fitted with applied lancet-shaped frets backed in modern red silk, all terminating on a moulded base. The 9-inch silvered brass dial with Roman numerals, signed to the centre E. White, 20 Cockspur Street, London, with blued steel hands, all framed by floral engraving. The break-arch incorporating a pendulum regulation and tune-setting dial, centred by a chime/silent subsidiary. The robust triple fusee movement with anchor escapement and fine steel rod pendulum, chiming the quarters on a nest of nine bells with hammers and striking the hours on a large blued steel gong mounted behind. The backplate signed and numbered. Currently ticking and striking. 81cms (32ins) high.
