1924 Henderson 1,301cc Deluxe Project Registration no. OR 5554 (see text) Frame no. illegible to due to corrosion Engine no. D 14383 • Present family ownership since the 1940s • Purchased as a parts donor • Untouched for 80 years • Offered for restoration or as spares This Henderson Four was purchased by father-and-son William and Guy Masters in the mid 1940s, possibly as a parts donor to keep their 1925 Henderson Four (in this sale also) on the road. There is a letter from son to father referring to the machine's extremely poor condition when he collected it from a railway station; it was said to be in many pieces. William, presumably concerned about the purchase, wrote to Sussex County Council in September 1946 to establish its true age. Sussex CC's reply (on file) confirmed its first registration on 6th October 1924. It seems that work to recommission the other Henderson Deluxe may have stalled at that point in 1946. Perhaps the demands of a new young family led to the machine remaining untouched in the family home's garage thereafter. Components include the frame, engine casing, numerous engine parts, front fork assembly, rear wheel, fuel tank, exhaust pipe, handlebars, etc. According to our vendor there is not enough for another complete machine but some individual parts may be useful to someone. The machine is offered with an RF.60 logbook. Although the Henderson displays the registration 'OR 5554', that VRN does not appear in the DVLA/HPI database and thus the machine is offered unregistered. Prospective purchasers must satisfy themselves with regard to the VRN's validity prior to bidding.
