1975 Triumph 750cc T140V Bonneville Registration no. KLC 893N Frame no. T140V EK61706 Engine no. T140V EK61706 'The Bonneville's biggest plus must be its weight, or rather, the lack of it. At just 424lb with a gallon of fuel, it's a hundredweight lighter than several Oriental machines of similar capacity.' - Bike magazine, January 1979. The final phase of Triumph twin development began in 1972 with the first appearance of the newly enlarged-to-750cc version of the Bonneville, the increase in bore size necessitating a new crankcase to accommodate the larger barrel. Other improvements included a new ten-stud cylinder head, triplex primary chain, stronger transmission and a disc front brake. A five-speed gearbox, introduced on the preceding 650 Bonneville, was standard equipment on the 750. Despite the age of the basic design and strong competition from Japanese and European manufacturers, the Bonnie remained for many years the UK's top-selling 750 and in 1979 was voted 'Machine of the Year' by readers of Motor Cycle News. This T140V Bonneville was acquired by the current private vendor in the Bonhams Summer Online Sale 2025 (Lot 41) and the previous vendor to them had owned it since 2000. Since its acquisition by the vendor, we're advised it has had a service which included an oil change, new brake pads and a new battery. The vendor also noted that it had fitted already when purchased an oil cooler, hydraulic clutch, electronic ignition, Hagon dampers and new concentric carbs. It was used on the Columbus Rally last year in northern Spain where it covered about 600 miles with the current odometer reading of 8,788 miles. Accompanying documents include a current V5C Registration Certificate; some expired MoTs (most recent issued March 2012 at 8,147 miles); sundry receipts; and an expired (2008) road tax disc. It should be noted that the V5C omits the 'T140V' frame and engine number prefixes. The machine also comes with an owner's handbook and a parts catalogue.
