1955 Moto Guzzi Cardellino 65 Registration no. 734 UYU Frame no. *CDL73* Engine no. *CDL73* A development of the immensely successful Motoleggera, the Cardellino (goldfinch) first appeared at the Milan Show in 1953, retaining the 64cc engine of its predecessor while benefiting from a new, stronger frame. Early in 1956 the Cardellino was updated with a telescopic fork and full-width alloy hubs, and later that same year a 73cc version was announced. Further developed and enlarged (to 83cc) the Cardellino remained in production until 1965. Like most Italian lightweights, the Cardellino was light-years in advance of foreign contemporaries being reliable, comfortable and endowed with excellent roadholding and handling despite rather crude suspension. Previously registered and/or used, this Cardellino 65 was first registered in the UK on 1st December 2016. The Guzzi purchased at auction in 2024 by the private vendor and has been dry stored since acquisition. No previous history is known. The machine is offered with Moto Guzzi Club GB dating letter; the auction sales invoice; and a current V5C Registration Certificate.
