CUNDO BERMÚDEZ (1914-2008) Geyser signed, inscribed and numbered 'Cundo Bermudez 1/9 Geyser' (on the base) bronze with brown patina 70 7/8 x 22 7/8 x 11 7/8 in (180 x 58 x 30 cm) Executed in 2008. This work is number one from an edition of nine plus two Artist's Proofs Footnotes: Provenance Acquired directly from the artist by the present owner. Geyser belongs to Cundo Bermúdez's sculptural production, in which the female figure is distilled into a vertical and enclosed form of strong symbolic presence. The sculpture articulates a compact, stylized body conceived as a continuous volume, where frontality and containment reinforce a sense of stillness and permanence. The polished surface and anatomical simplification translate into three dimensions the modern visual language developed by Bermúdez in his painting: formal balance, structural clarity, and a figuration stripped of anecdote. Evoking a contained and monumental femininity closer to archetype than portrait, the body functions as both compositional and symbolic axis. This sculpture is number 2 from an edition of 9, underscoring its status as a limited work within the artist's formal investigations.
