Sussex, Likely commissioned for Sir Whistler Webster, 2nd Baronet of Battle Abbey (1708-1779). The Webster baronetcy was created in 1703 for his father, Sir Thomas Webster, who purchased Battle Abbey in 1719 following his wife Jane Cheek's substantial inheritance from her grandfather, the London merchant Henry Whistler. Sir Whistler served as M.P. for East Grinstead (1741-1761) and succeeded to the baronetcy in 1751. In 1766 he married Martha Nairn, daughter of the Dean of Battle; the marriage was without issue. On his death in 1779, the title passed to his brother, Sir Godfrey Webster, 3rd Baronet.
