After studying at the School of Fine Arts in Angers, he was admitted to the National School of Fine Arts in Paris, where he trained in the studio of Jules Cavelier (1814 - 1894). From 1888, he became a member of the Artistes Français and regularly participated in the Salons. The Musée des Beaux-Arts in Angers has several of his works, including busts, reliefs and sculptures, including the superb plaster figure representing Elisabeth Vigée-Lebrun from 1897 (MBA 358).
