As Zandra Rhodes notes in The Art of Zandra Rhodes (1984): 'Although I was trained as a textile designer, I had not applied any of my own prints to furnishing fabrics. I had purposely cut myself off from them in 1969 with my first dress collection, so that I would not be labelled as a textile designer. Then I met Christopher Vane Percy, an internationally famous interior designer [..] he encouraged me to refine them to be more saleable. Together, we created Zandra Rhodes Living, producing cushions and furnishing fabrics for sumptuous interiors. Richard Holley used the 'Indian Feather' print when I commissioned him to design the interior of my London shop.'
