Canadian. Late 1940s-early 1960s. Pressed steel. The "Irving" oil tanker was part of Otaco's "private-label" series of toys, made as advertising for what is today (2026) Canada's largest oil refinery. Private-label toys were promotional or display models made for specific companies and not intended for retail sale. As a result, production runs were usually small, which meant fewer examples entered the market. Decalled, "Canadian Made Minnitoys by Otaco Limited Orillia, Ontario", on cab doors. Embossed, "Minitoys [sic] Otaco Ltd. Orillia Canada Made in Canada", on tires. From the Yvan Lalonde Collection.
