American. 1924-1937. Pressed steel. This is a "paddy wagon", which makes it a rare toy. Most kids wanted toys like dump trucks or something with some action, so that they could move things around. To have a truck used to haul lawbreakers to jail was an odd thing for a child to play with. Keystone officially phased out the entire "Packard" line of trucks in 1937, including this Police Patrol wagon. In terms of sales, the toy was not a top-selling item during its production period in the 1920s, but it has proven to be far more sought after in today's collectors' market. Embossed, "Mfd. By Keystone Mfg Co. Boston U.S.A.", on tires. From the Yvan Lalonde Collection.
