Canadian. Early 1950s-1959. Pressed steel. This Woodward's toy was part of the "private-label" series manufactured by Windsor Steel Products for Lincoln Specialties Limited. The "private-label" series were toys with company names or logos that were used as promotional items – these production runs were typically small as the toys were not intended for retail consumption. Woodward's was one of Canada's oldest department store chains that pioneered self-service groceries. The truck is considered to be one of the more elusive Lincoln Toys. The truck has a decal that says, "Made in Canada Lincoln Toys Windsor, Ont. Trademark Reg'd", which identifies Lincoln toys that were made from the early 1950s until 1959. As the company formalized its branding, "Trademark Reg'd" and the "Windsor, Ont." location were added to the decals. Decalled, "Made in Canada Lincoln Toys Windsor, Ont. Trade Mark Reg'd", at top front of trailer. Marked, "Lincoln", on cab doors. Embossed, "Lincoln Toys Made In Canada", on tires. From the Yvan Lalonde Collection.
