American. Early 1950s. Pressed steel. The L.A.P.D. (Los Angeles Fire Department) Number 21 aerial ladder truck, while widely identified as a Smith-Miller toy, the majority of these fire trucks (given the date of the company's corporate history- see "Maker Bios" below) were likely produced under the Miller-Ironson (MIC) brand, which was a subsidiary or related company founded by Matt Miller, one of Smith-Miller's original partners. Decalled, "Smith-Miller Smitty Toys", on cab doors. From the Yvan Lalonde Collection.
