Description
American. 1909-1920. Pressed steel. This friction toy was likely part of the Dayton Friction Toy Works "Hill Climber" series of toys. Typically, we can determine the manufacturer and the date by looking at two things: first, are there any markings on the toy - this toy is unmarked; and second, we examine the flywheel mechanism. The mechanism on this toy, upon review of the patent design drawings, appears to be similar to the "Gyro" style patented by the Dayton Friction Company. From the Yvan Lalonde Collection.
