American. 1941-1948. Wood with metal hardware and celluloid windows. Wooden toys, such as this Buddy "L" Pepsi-Cola truck, were sometimes referred to as "Buddy "L" Victory" toys, created during WWII when steel was scarce and companies had to turn to other materials as a way of supporting the war effort by repurposing materials. Examination of the Pepsi-Cola marking, shows use of the "double-dot" between the words "Pepsi" and "Cola". The production years of this toy fall within the period that Pepsi, in fact, used the "double-dot" logo. Partial decal known to be, "Buddy L", on hood. From the Yvan Lalonde Collection.
