American. 1942-1945. Wood. Wooden toys, such as this Buddy "L" Ladder Truck, were sometimes referred to as "Buddy "L" Victory" toys, created during WWII when steel was scarce, and companies had to turn to other materials as a way of supporting the war effort by repurposing materials such as wood scraps. This toy can be dated based on the all-wooden wheels, which puts the manufacturing date between 1942 and 1945. Marked, "Buddy L Wood Toys", on box and decalled on hood. From the Yvan Lalonde Collection.
