AMerican. 1950s. Lithographed tin. The "Cities Service" tow truck was part of Marx's "licensed brand partnership" series of toys. Marx was known for its partnership with numerous companies, including the Cities Service petroleum brand. While most of these types of toys, with real company names, were typically used as premiums or display models, department store catalogues and Marx advertisements point to this particular truck as being a standard retail item sold in toy and department stores. Marked, "Made In United States Of America Marx Toys New York", at lower section of passenger cab door. Marked, "LMC", on grille. Trademarked, "Marx", logo on hook. Embossed, "Lumar", on tires. From the Yvan Lalonde Collection.
