American. 1941-1948. Wood with metal hardware and celluloid windows. Wooden toys, such as this Buddy "L" station wagon (fondly known as a "woodie"), were sometimes referred to as "Buddy "L" Victory" toys, created during WWII when steel was scarce, and companies had to turn to other materials as a way of supporting the war effort by repurposing materials.
