English. 1950s. Pressed steel. The Tri-ang double-decker bus toys were introduced in the late 1950s. This toy is the large-scale "Routemaster" bus. It is part of the "transport" series (22 inches long) and has a "half-cab" design (a driver's cab that takes up half the width of the front with the engine compartment sitting next to it). The bus was made in several colour variations, with red being the most common. The license plate, "LIB 4242", references the company's owners and their headquarters ("LIB" stands for Lines Brothers; "4242" refers to the telephone number off the Tri-ang factory in Merton, London). Decalled, "Tri-ang", on sides. Embossed, with Tri-ang logo, on grille. Embossed, "Tri-Ang Made in England TI LB Ltd", on tires. From the Yvan Lalonde Collection.
