American. 1926-1932. Pressed steel. This ride-on toy was a central part of the very successful Buddy "L" line of toys. While often known as the Buddy "L" passenger bus, the official Moline catalogue designated it as the "Buddy "L" No. 208 Coach". The most notable fact about this toy was that it could be steered by rotating its side-mounted spare tires. This innovative feature, combined with the fact that it was strong enough for a child to sit on, made it a true groundbreaker in the field of children's toys. Decalled, "Buddy "L", on grille. Decalled, "The Buddy "L" Line Quality Toys Built By Moline Pressed Steel Co. East Moline, Ill.", on inside of cab doors. From the Yvan Lalonde Collection.
