
Japanese. 1960s. Lithographed tin, plastic. This battery-operated toy was made by the Nomura Toy Industrial Co., Ltd. (also known as "Toys Nomura"). The company was founded in Tokyo in 1923 and became a leader in producing mechanical and battery-operated tin toys, encompassing many popular themes of the era. The "Solar-X" space rocket reflects the peak of Japanese "space age" toy manufacturing, a theme made popular by the Space Race. The Nomura company continued operations until it was purchased by Hasbro in 1992. Marked, "T.N Made in Japan", on underside and on box. From the Yvan Lalonde Collection.

Toy is in excellent condition. Minor paint nicks and edgewear. Minor pitting from oxidation on underside. Original box is in very good condition. Tested and requires service.
