Description
Cast bronze. Measures 17 cm. Figure of Buddha depicted standing on a small circular base decorated with stylized lotus petals, adopting an elegant and balanced pose, with his right arm relaxed at his side and his left hand holding the end of his robe. The serene face, with its soft features and introspective expression, is combined with a slender silhouette and a delicate treatment of the body's volume. The surface has an antique patina that accentuates the nobility of the material. This sculpture is characteristic of Central Javanese Buddhist art during the height of the Sailendra dynasty, reflecting the synthesis of spirituality, formal refinement, and classical balance typical of 9th-century Southeast Asia.
