U.S.A. 1950s. Reverse painted glass. Aluminum case. The "bathroom scale" thermometer got its name from collectors who noted the internal mechanism and the visual layout resemble a classic bathroom scale. This thermometer was made during the "postal zone era". During this period, the maker used the address "Cincinnati 23, Ohio" (noted on reverse). This era began in 1943, when the U.S. Post Office introduced two-digit postal zones ("23") and ended in 1963, when they replaced the zone codes with ZIP codes. Marked "Calvert Distillers Co., New York City" at lower edge. Embossed "Advertising Products Inc. Cincinnati 23, Ohio Made in U.S.A." on reverse. All items are guaranteed authentic by Miller & Miller Auctions.
