Canadian. 1910s. Lithographed tin. An early and rare, rolled-lid pocket tobacco tin from the Imperial Tobacco Company of Canada (founded in 1906). Tobacco tins were primarily designed to attract male customers, a campaign nicely depicted by the two high-society men on this tin as they contemplate their ride, with the male driver respectfully staring ahead. The tin features spectacular, trademarked scene graphics (images are identical on both sides). Many collectors consider this to be the most beautiful pocket tobacco tin ever made. It is regarded as a "high-end" tin, rare, seldom seen for sale and with exquisite graphics. One of Canada's iconic and highly sought-after pocket tobacco tins. See "Canadian Country Store Collectables", Bill and Pauline Hogan, p.11. Marked, "Manufactured by Imperial Tobacco Co. of Canada, Limited", underneath. All items are guaranteed authentic by Miller & Miller Auctions.
