Canadian. 1930s. Lithographed tin. The Puck cigarette tobacco tin is one of the rarest Canadian tobacco tins and the first to feature hockey graphics. The "Port 10D" marking on the tin indicates the tobacco was produced in Montreal, as supported by a review of the License Codes issued by Canada’s Revenue Department for Canadian Tobacco Manufacturers from 1883 to 1962. The tin was produced by General Steel Wares Limited, a Canadian company founded in 1927 that manufactured a wide range of metal products. This tin is dated to the 1930s, based on the design features such as the stripes on the sleeves of the left player's jersey, the pants on both players, and the flared long cuffs on the gloves—characteristics typical of hockey uniforms in Canada during that era. While this dating is not definitive, these features strongly suggest a 1930s timeframe. Marked, "Made In Canada Factory 40-Port 10D", at upper edge below lid. Marked, "General Steel Wares Limited", lower edge, left of seam. Authenticated by The Authentication Company (TAC #501408). All items are guaranteed authentic by Miller & Miller Auctions.
